Blue-faced Parrot Finch

Blue-faced Parrot Finch

It’s that time of year again when the Blue-faced Parrot Finch has arrived back at Sweetwater, found in the long grass near to the lodges on the edge of the rainforest.  Far North Queensland is the only part of Australia where this unmistakable finch with its bright blue head inhabits. Often found in grassy areas of eucalypt forest close to rainforest, Sweetwater Lodge offers the perfect habitat for this uncommon and often sought after bird. This w/e saw the return visit from some bird-watching Adelaide guests who came in their quest to film this little gem; they were not disappointed! They managed to get some excellent close-up footage which they will be adding to their birding documentary later this year. We fully expect that these little birds will remain at Sweetwater Lodge for most of the winter months, at least until August. Our luxury Atherton Tablelands accommodation offers stunning views, private rainforest, and great walking tracks in nature’s paradise, perfect for bird-watching enthusiasts, nature lovers and anyone wanting a complete private getaway.
